|Description:||Join a reputable, first rate child welfare agency serving at-risk adolescents and their families through residential treatment, education, foster care and older adolescent programs. Therapeutic Recreation-Expressive Therapies (TR-ET) Lead Worker reports to the Program Manager of Specialized Services. Provides supervision of therapeutic recreation and expressive therapy (art and music) staff. Provides direct therapeutic recreation or expressive therapy services in the absence or inability of assigned therapist. Maintains a case load of group and/or individual services. Effective verbal and written communication with staff, administration and clients/families. May conduct home visits and transportation of clients. Effective utilization of both verbal and physical intervention skills. Physical intervention requires the ability to kneel and return to standing without assistance. Supervises therapeutic recreation student interns. Must maintain a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.|
Coordinates TR/ET services throughout the agency
Monitors and evaluates services and prepares monthly reports including level of service utilization per program and per staff member
Develops, researches and implements new and innovative TR/ET programming as needed by various program areas in collaboration with agency administrators
Provides weekly supervision to all TR workers, Expressive Therapists, and TR interns as assigned.
Coordinates the TR internship program.
Provides group/individual TR programming as needed.
Serves as an administrative back up for all direct reports.
Maintains a referral system for TR/ET services and assigns referrals to staff.
Provides written reports as required.
Holds regular staff meetings.
Tracks outcomes and participates in the agencys PQI process.
Participates in the development and implementation of continuous quality improvement activities as assigned.
Demonstrates a commitment to continuous quality improvement in all aspects of the position.
Assists the agency in the on-going evaluation and development of overall treatment program.
Participates in, and conduct, agency seminars and attends professional group meetings.
Interprets the agency to the social service community and may present agency's program to public or civic groups, as requested.
May prepare written work for advancing both the agency and the professional field.
Review written material before finalized as permanent record.
Have basic knowledge of all cases to support residents' treatment plans.
Will assist direct reports, staff and clients with locating and evaluating agency and community resources as necessary.
Develop and maintain a database of community leisure and recreational resources.
Assume flexible schedule when necessary.
Ability to work effectively with clients and staff in a culturally diverse environment
Actively markets and promotes TR/ET services across the agency.
Assumes other tasks as assigned.
Must be 21 years of age
Bachelors degree with at least three (3) years of post degree experience. Must be a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS), Registered Music Therapist-Board Certified (RMT-BC) or Registered/Board Certified Art Therapist (ATR or ATR-BC) in the State of Illinois and have the ability to supervise effectively.
Must have a valid Illinois drivers license with no suspensions in effect in the previous three (3) years.
Must have personal vehicle or access to personal vehicle.
